TripPlot for iPhone & iPad

Open TripPlot. If you already use tripplot.io, sign in with the same email and password and your trips appear straight away.

1. New to TripPlot? Tap New to TripPlot? Create an account.
2. Enter your name, email and a password of at least 8 characters. Your iPhone may offer to create a strong password and save it in Passwords — that's fine to accept.
3. Tap Create account. You're signed in and the app shows No trips yet.

1. On the Trips screen tap New trip (or the + at the top).
2. Under Where to? start typing the destination — Pattaya. Suggestions appear as you type; tap the right one. TripPlot fills in the local time zone and currency for you.
3. Under When? choose the first and last day.
4. The Name is filled in from the destination and year (“Pattaya City 2026”) — shorten it if you like (we used “Pattaya 2026”) and pick an icon.
5. Optional: open More options to set your home currency, the local currency and a total budget. You can change these later on tripplot.io.
6. Tap Create.

After creating the trip you land on Today. Until the trip starts it shows how many days are left and a Getting ready checklist: places saved, flights and accommodation in the plan, how many days have something planned, and your budget. Each item turns into a green tick when it's done.

Along the bottom are the five tabs you'll use: Today, Plan, Places, Journal and Budget. When you scroll, the tab bar shrinks out of the way. Just above it is a strip showing your trip — during the trip it shows what's next — with a pencil to start a journal entry from anywhere.

Put the trip in your calendar

Tap Subscribe in Calendar on the Today tab. Your iPhone's Calendar app then shows every planned item, and keeps up to date as you change the plan.

Places are the restaurants, sights, bars and markets you might want to visit. Save them first; decide which day later. Each gets a type (Sight, Temple, Food, Café, Beach…) from the map, which you can change on tripplot.io.

1. Open the Places tab and tap + (top right).
2. Type what you're looking for — a name like Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, or something general like seafood. Results come from Apple Maps and OpenStreetMap, near your destination.
3. Tap the round + next to a result. It changes to Added. Add as many as you like, then close the search (✕) and tap Done.

Saw a place in Google Maps? Copy its link, paste it into the search box and tap Add from this map link.

Map and list

Switch between Map and List at the top. On the map, the chips along the top filter by type (Sights, Food, Bars…). Each pin's colour and symbol show its type; a grey tick means you've been there. The list groups places by type and has its own search box.

1. In Places, tap a place and choose Add to a day.
2. Pick the Day, then a time slot: Morning (8–12), Afternoon (12–6) or Evening (6 till late). Need a precise time — a tour at 9:30? Turn on Exact time.
3. If the place has opening hours they're shown underneath, so you don't plan a visit when it's closed.
4. Tap Add.

The Plan tab lists every day of the trip with what's planned in time order and where you're staying that night. During the trip it opens on today, marked with a Today badge.

Other things you can add

Tap + at the top of the Plan tab (or the small ⊕ beside a day) to add something that isn't a saved place: a meal, transport, a note, or a flight (type the flight number and route, e.g. TG 466 SYD → BKK, with its exact departure time). Under More options you can record what it costs; that counts towards your budget as “planned”.

To remove something, swipe the row to the left and tap Delete. Tap a row to see its details.

Once the trip starts, Today becomes your home screen for the day. It opens with a map of today's stops and Day 3 of 8, then:

• The NOW / NEXT card — what you should be doing, with three big buttons:
  • Directions — route in Apple Maps.
  • I'm here — ticks the place as visited (it turns green: Visited).
  • Write — a journal entry about this place, already linked to it.
• Today's plan — things already over are crossed out; a green tick means visited. Tonight's hotel is shown underneath.
• Journal — today's entries, and a button to write one.
• Spent today — in your home currency and the local one, with how much of the budget is used.

The strip above the tabs always shows what's next and has the pencil for a new journal entry, whichever tab you're on.

The journal is the story of the trip: a few lines, a mood and some photos each day. It's quickest to do it on the spot.

1. Tap the pencil in the strip above the tabs (or Write on the NOW card, or Write today's entry).
2. Add photos: Camera to take one now, or Add photos to pick up to six from your library (the button becomes More once you have some; ✕ on a photo removes it).
   • The day is set from the photo — pick a photo from yesterday and the entry moves to yesterday (“Day set from your photo”).
   • If the photo knows where it was taken, the nearest saved place is chosen for you.
3. Choose a mood: Happy, Good, Meh, Tired, Amazing, Hectic or Unwell.
4. Write a few lines. The title is optional — leave it empty and the place or day is used.
5. Under About a place? the places planned for today come first; tap one to link the entry to it.
6. Tap Save.

On a boat, in the mountains or with roaming switched off, carry on as normal:

• Your trip — plan, places, budget and journal — is saved on the phone, so every tab still works. An orange note at the top of Today says you're offline and when the saved copy is from.
• Journal entries (with photos), expenses and I'm here ticks are saved on the phone and marked Saved offline — uploads when back online or Waiting to upload.
• When you're back online they upload by themselves, in the order you made them, and the note disappears. You don't need to open the app — iPhone gives TripPlot a moment in the background to send them.

While anything is waiting, the person button at the top right shows a cloud with an arrow. Tap it to see how many items are waiting and to Upload now.

The Journal tab shows every entry, newest day first, with its photos, mood, place and who wrote it. Tap an entry to read it in full and swipe through its photos.

Share with family and friends

1. In the Journal tab tap ⋯ (top right) and choose Create a public link.
2. Choose Share journal link and send it by Messages, WhatsApp, email…

Anyone with the link can read the journal in a web browser — no account needed — but can't change anything. Turn it off any time with Turn off public link. (Public links are part of Pro.)

To delete an entry, open it and tap the bin icon.

1. Tap Add expense on the Today tab, or + on the Budget tab.
2. Type the amount. It starts in the local currency (baht here); switch to your home currency with the buttons beside it. The converted amount appears underneath.
3. Tap a category — Food, Transport, Activities, Shopping, Accommodation, Flights or Other — and optionally say what it was.
4. Tap Save. No signal? It's saved and uploads later, like the journal.

The Budget tab shows:

• Spent (expenses), booked & planned (costs of items in your plan) and what's left of your total budget, with a bar showing how much is used. Over budget? It turns red and says so.
• A chart of spending by category, with each category's icon, name and amount.
• Every expense, grouped by day with the day's total. Swipe left to delete one.

On iPad the tabs sit at the top of the screen; tap the sidebar button beside them to show them as a sidebar instead. Everything else works the same, with more room for the map and the plan — handy for planning on the sofa before the trip. Journal entries and places you add on the iPad appear on your iPhone and on tripplot.io.

Tap the person button (top right) to open Account:

• Your name, email and plan (Free or Pro).
• Sync: Everything is uploaded, or how many items are waiting, with Upload now. If something couldn't be saved — say, a date outside the trip — it's listed here with the reason.
• Links to tripplot.io, the privacy policy and support.
• Sign out. If anything is still waiting to upload, you're warned first — signing out removes it from the phone. Sign out on all devices signs out every phone and iPad using your account.
• Delete account… — permanently deletes your account and everything in it (trips, places, plans, expenses, journal, photos) after you confirm with your password.
